Abstract (Abstrak)
We introduce a new approach in understanding the process of propagating seismic waves using the Helmholtz equation. The seismic wave propagation used is only based on the pressure wave (P-wave) with the velocity parameter being the characteristic of each layer. For some of the problems obtained in the domain boundary requirements in the modeling process, it is solved by an optimal technique, namely the application of the Perfectly Match Layer (PML) as an absorbent function. This technique allows us to avoid the spurious reflections phenomenon in boundary conditions and is easy to apply in finite difference methods to discrete schematic problems. The efficiency and accuracy of this approach is illustrated by several numerical tests.
Keywords: seismic, Helmholtz equation, Perfectly Match Layer (PML), P-wave, finite difference method.
