Abstract (Abstrak)

Muhammad Akram Mufadhdhal, 2024, Improving English Speaking Skill Of Students Of SMA 21 Makassar Through “The English Zone” Program (supervised by Ria Rosdiana Jubhari and Nasmillah). The English Zone Program was investigated to assess its impact on enhancing students' speaking abilities. The study took place at SMA 21 MAKASSAR, focusing on the enhancement of students' speaking skills in terms of pronunciation, fluency, and vocabulary. The researcher employed quantitative methods and selected a single class of twelfth graders from SMA 21 MAKASSAR as their sample. The data collection process involved a series of observations, pre-tests, treatments, and post-tests, which were conducted over the course of six meetings. The sample consisted of 36 students from class XII-11 of SMA 21 MAKASSAR. The English Zone Program was implemented for students, and the outcome revealed significant enhancements in their speaking abilities, particularly in pronunciation, fluency, and vocabulary. The data indicates that 81.01% of students demonstrated improved pronunciation, 87.5% showed enhanced fluency, and 85.91% exhibited better vocabulary skills. These findings suggest that the English Zone Program was effective in enhancing the speaking skills of class XII-11 students at SMA 21 MAKASSAR.
