Abstract (Abstrak)
This study examines the interference of mother tongue phonology on the
Korean language pronunciation of students at the National University of
Jakarta. This study aims to 1) provide a complete and in-depth description
of phonological interference forms of Korean pronunciation, and 2)
measure pronunciation forms in the form of tone and pitch using Pratt
Software on Korean pronunciation by Korean students at the National
University. The research method used is a mixed method that relies on
qualitative methods. The source of the data is the utterances of students
of the Korean Language Department, Unas Jakarta. Data collection
techniques were carried out by direct testing of a number of respondents,
and data analysis using descriptive analysis. Based on the research data,
it was revealed that the mother tongue greatly influences Korean
pronunciation. The gender aspect does not show an effect compared to
the length of learning indicating the influence of phonological interference/
Analysis evidence shows that phonological interference occurs in
pronunciation, for example, in the word 끝/ k' ɨt/ phoneme ㄲ/k'/ changes to
ㄱ /k/, the pronunciation in phrases 주 의 해 요 / ju -uihԑyo /, the vocal
phoneme ㅢ /ui/ is pronounced as ㅔ /e/, and the pronunciation in
sentences 열 한 시 에 시 험 을 봅 니 다 / yolhan si-e sihɔm ɨl bomnida/ is
pronounced by removing the phoneme ㄹ/ㅣ/ to become 여한시에 시험을
봅니다 /yohansi-e sihɔm ɨl bomnida. The results of the study show that the
gender factor has no influence on the phonological interference of Korean
except that the length of study shows at least a significant influence on
language proficiency but this situation is only limited to standard Korean
pronunciation.
