MODEL PENDIDIKAN MANAJEMEN DIRI DIABETES BERBASIS DUKUNGAN KELUARGA TERHADAP KUALITAS HIDUP PADA PENDERITA DIABETES MELITUS DENGAN PRA ULKUS DI KABUPATEN TAKALAR = Model Diabetes Self-Management Education Based on Family Support on Quality of Life in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus with Pre-ulcer in Takalar Regency

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is chronic metabolic disease that prevalence continues to increase worldwide. Several studies only focus on DM patients who have experienced diabetic foot ulcers without paying attention or seeing to pre-ulcer conditions of DM patients. This study aims to determine effect model diabetes self-management education-based family support on quality of life patients diabetes mellitus with pre-ulcer in Takalar Regency.
This research is experimental study with two groups pre and post test design. Data collection using the WHOQOL-BREF Questionnaire which consists of 26 questions. A total 66 respondents, each group consisting of 33 respondents were selected using purposive sampling method. Data analysis used paired t-test with significance level of p<0.05. This study result showed that Quality of Life study of the intervention group has a significant difference (P value =0.000) with average between pre-intervention and post-intervention of 20.879. While, in control group, there is no significant difference (p-value = 0.237) with the average difference between pre-intervention and post-intervention was 0.758. Therefore, there is an effect Model DSME education based on family support on quality of life patients diabetes mellitus with pre-ulcer in Takalar Regency. The DSME model can be used as the educational media to increase knowledge, skills and improve the quality of life for people with DM.
