Abstract (Abstrak)
Most tofu industries in Makassar is home industry that does not pay
attention to the waste before disposal, especially the most liquid waste potentially
contaminate the sorrounding environment especially water bodies because they
contain organic matter. Therefore, the required processing can degrade organic
materials contained in it, one of which is by using a biological treatnent reactors
or called with attached growth bioreactor (Attached Growth Bioreactor) in which
microorganisms grow and contribute to a better media experience media just as
the rocks and artificial media such as plastic. The researches used bioball as
bacterial growth media and produce reduced levels of contaminants that are
relatively high. For levels of BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) reaches a
maximum reduction to 96,31%, for levels of COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand)
have declined by 91%, levels of TSS (Total Suspended Solid) also experienced a
greater decline reached 92,65%, and Ammonia levels reaching up to 99,13%
stage percentage. With this, it can be concluded that the wastewater treatment
tofu industry with bioreactor cultures wih media bioball effective in reducing the
content of organic matter in the waste.
