Abstract (Abstrak)

The Effect of Workload and Length of Work on Stress Levels in Achieving Job Satisfaction at the Makassar Health Laboratory Center Fadil Apriawan Arifin, Masyitha Muis, Fridawaty Rivai Abstract Background. The job satisfaction of the workforce or employees is influenced by many factors, both intrinsic factors of employees and extrinsic factors of the work environment as well as the policies of the leadership of the organization or work institution. Aim. The aim of this study is to examined will be the effects of workload, work duration and stress levels on job satisfaction. Method. All study variables are measured simultaneously in each research subject as part of the cross-sectional design observational analysis research method. A validated questionnaire is used in the variable measurement procedure. Seventy-five employees of the Makassar Public Health Laboratory Center made up the research sample. Purposive sampling is the sample selection technique employed. Bivariate analysis using the Spearman Correlation statistical test and multivariate analysis using Multiple Linear Regression were the methods employed. If the test value is p<0.05, the result is deemed significant. The Result. Bivariate analysis revealed that workload significantly impacted stress levels negatively (r=-0.331, p=004), that workload significantly impacted job satisfaction positively (r=0.315, p=0.006), and that stress levels significantly impacted job satisfaction negatively (r=-0.399, p=0.001). On the other hand, job satisfaction (r=-0.055, p=0.640) and stress level (r=0.044, p=0.710) were not significantly impacted by working length. The multivariate analysis's findings demonstrated that the Makassar Public Health Laboratory Center's employees' job satisfaction was mostly influenced by their workload.Conclusion. High workload contributes to elevated stress levels among e mployees, which in turn leads to decreased job satisfaction. Additionally, the research shows that heavy workloads can directly reduce job satisfaction through their impact on work-related stress. Based on these findings, it is suggested that leaders and directors at the Makassar Public Health Laboratory Center implement regular monitoring and oversight systems to address these concerns Keywords: Workload, Length of Work, Stress Level, Job Satisfaction
