Abstract (Abstrak)

This study aims to conduct a needs analysis emphasizing target situational needs and learning needs, along with integrating two corpora to suggest a comprehensive, relevant, and natural English syllabus for English for Nurses. To meet that purpose, a nursing lecturer, an English lecturer, a working abroad nurse graduate, and nursing students were involved as the participants. Brown's three steps of needs analysis, consisting of making decisions, collecting information, and using the information, was adjusted and a mixed method design was employed in this study. This study resulted in a suggested prototype syllabus that is task-based and corpora-integrated, as it was derived from the students' target situational needs and learning needs. Recommendations to the faculty concerning the imperative conduction of a needs analysis before the syllabus design, modification of the current syllabus document, extension for English for Nurses from the first to fifth semester, and improvement of learning equipment and facility were made.
