Abstract (Abstrak)

MEYBY EKA PUTRI LEMPANG. Primato Malaria: Zonotic Potential in Nofth Buton Wiktlife Sanduary, Southeast Suralt€si (SupeMsed by Din Syah.rddin, Ratmarrati Malaka, and Puji Asih). This stndy aims to: (1) determine the number ot Ptasmdium sp. fornd in primates in tlre forest adlacent of the North Butst Wldlife Sanctuary (BUWS); (2) determine the number ol Napheles sp. in the region and potentially vec{or specbs; and (3) debrmine the potential risk of zoonotic malaria hansmisslcfl from primates to humans (if found to cany Plasnodium sp.). The research method was used observational research design, cross-sectbnal amlysis, and corwenignce sampling res€arch technhlps. Primates and mosquitoes were ktentified by specbs bas€d on mophobgical and molecular examinations. Plasrnodiurn sp. examination in the Uood of pnmat€ and mcquitoes (headlhorax) were use<l microscopic, molecular, sequencing, and phylogenetic analysis. The resutB of the shrdy of 26 primales show that morphologicalty and nrolecularly the primates that werc successfully catght are Buton monkeys (Macaca brunnescens), wftib out of a tdal of 8o mosquitoes Ang4,hek,s q. caught is the species Arcphe#;s llavirosfab (17 .5%)' An- Sulawesi (36.25%), An- Maculatus (12.5%), An. SuDprcfirs (2.5%), and An, vagus (1.25%l' The 13 Macaca brunnescem are inftied wllh Plasnodium inui (76.92%1. Plasmdium cpomolgi (15.3S%), and Plasndium simiovale (7.7%)' h'ttib Plasndium in rnosgurtoes is identified as Plasnodium inui {2.5%1.
