Abstract (Abstrak)

Improvement of forage production needs to be done so that livestock productivity can increase. There are several ways that need to be done to increase the productivity of forage, namely the introduction of plants between grasses and legumes and defoliation of plants. The low productivity of natural pasture land is related to a shortage of several nutrients, especially nitrogen. Mixed cropping between dwarf elephant grass and gamal is needed for nitrogen fixation to occur, while the age of cutting has an effect on plant regrowth and production. This study aims to find out how regrowth and production are in mixed cropping between mini elephant grass and Gamal with different cutting ages. This study was arranged according to a completely randomized design with a pattern of 4 treatments and 4 replications for each treatment, namely (P1) 15 days of cutting age; (P2) cutting age of 30 days; (P3) 45 days cutting age; (P4) cutting age of 90 days. Based on the results and discussion, it was concluded that the age of cutting can increase regrowth and production in mixed cropping between dwarf elephant grass and gamal.
