Abstract (Abstrak)
Background: Dental caries is a chronic infectious disease that is often found in society in adults and children, men and women. The main treatment for dental caries is restorative action which aims to repair and restore tooth function. Currently, the restoration material that is most in demand by dentists and patients is hybrid composite resin material because it has the main advantage, namely a smoother restorative surface, but with a disadvantage that cannot yet be eliminated, namely shrinkage polymerization which can cause microleakage as a cause of secondary caries and even loss of restoration. Secondary caries is damage that occurs at the interface of the restoration edge and the cavity edge. Objective: To determine the prevalence of secondary caries after restoration treatment with hybrid composite resin in patients at the Biru Health Center, Bone Regency. Method: This research is a descriptive observational study with a cross sectional study approach. The research samples were patients at the Biru Health Center, Bone Regency who used composite resin restoration materials and experienced secondary caries. The data was then processed using Microsoft Office Excel and SPSS. Results: In this study, it was found that the condition of composite resin restorations in 2017-2021 showed that there were 20 teeth (43%) with secondary caries. Conclusion: Secondary caries occurred in 20 teeth (43%) of the 43 teeth that received hybrid composite resin restoration treatment.
