Abstract (Abstrak)
Stunting is one of the health problems that describes malnutrition or
chronic malnutrition during the period of growth and development in early life, where
in general, children under five who are stunted in Indonesia are 30.8%. Micronutrient
deficiency has a clinical appearance that is often seen first in oral tissue due to the
rapid cell turnover and dense microbial biofilm in the oral cavity. Inadequate
nutritional intake can cause tissue damage leading to infection and leading to the
development of lesions in the oral cavity. Objective: To determine the prevalence of
oral soft tissue disorders in children aged 6-18 years who are stunted in Indonesia
Method: Secondary data from literature studies, which are analyzed descriptively by
describing and comparing the results of research on the prevalence of oral soft tissue
disorders in children who are stunted in Indonesia. Result: The prevalence found in
the Enrekang area was 65%, in the Bandung area 43%, in the Denpasar area 62.5%,
in the Manado area 84%, in the Medan area 88.9%, in the Sumatra region at 88.7%,
in the Jember area 89 , 2%, and in the Cianjur area 62%. Conclusion: In the oral
cavity of children who are stunted, where there is a deficiency or nutritional
deficiency, disorders such as angular cheilitis, athropic glossitis, mouth ulcers, and
oral candidiasis can be found. Angular cheilitis is the most common disorder based
on research on malnourished children in Indonesia.
