Abstract (Abstrak)

Lae-Lae Caddi Island is an island located ±1.6 km west of the city of Makassar which extends from north to south. The island is located very close to the mainland city of Makassar so it is relatively vulnerable to stresses from the mainland. There are various marine organisms can be found in the waters of this island including seagrass. Seagrass can grow on various types of substrate, such as muddy, sandy to coral fragments that can affect their morphology This study aims to find out the morphometric relationship of seagrass with different substrate types. Seagrass were sampled based on the presence of seagrass at the research site (purposive sampling). Substrate and seagrass samples were taken from two different stations. Seagrass was sampled to measure the morphometry, i.e. number, length, and width of leaves, and number, length, and diameter of roots. Substrate samples were taken to find out the type of sediment that dominated the research area. To find out the relationship of the substrate with seagrass morphometrics, a correlation analysis was carried out. The results showed that the type of substrate found at Station I and II were dominated by coarse sand and medium sand, respectively. Overall, it showed a weak correlation of the substrate type both on the seagrass leaves morphometric (number, length, and width of leaves), as well as on the roots (number, length, and diameter of the roots). Specifically, it also showed a weak correlation of the substrate type on seagrass Enhalus acoroides morphometry (rhizome circumference and leaf sheaths).
