Abstract (Abstrak)
This study tries to explain the relationship of verb meanings in semantic studies, especially lexical meaning. The object of this research is the Mahmoud Yunus Dictionary. This thesis looks for verbs that have meanings related to the equation of two initials in the Mahmoud Yunus dictionary. The purpose of this study is to classify verbs that have related meanings in the Mahmoud Yunus Dictionary and analyze the general meaning of verbs that have related meanings in the Mahmoud Yunus Dictionary.
The theory used in this research is the Semitic Language Assignment Theory. This research is included in qualitative research, and this research includes library research. There are two techniques used to collect data, namely reading techniques and note-taking techniques. This research uses descriptive method in data analysis.
The results of this study indicate that the researcher found in the Mahmoud Yunus dictionary that not all verbs that are the same in the first two letters have a moral relationship. The number of verbs that have a moral relationship based on the equation of the first two letters in the Mahmoud Yunus dictionary is 110 verbs. After collecting data, the researcher concluded that there were 50 groups of verbs taken from the existing 110 verb data, and each group of verbs had a general meaning. The general meaning of each group of verbs is تحرك، رئيس، قطع، جاهل، فرح، بخل، ابتدأ، شر، حسن، بصر، أخرج، تجمّع، حفظ، جمع، حرّ، ثقب، أذل، لمع، فك، ضرب، صمت، بعد، رمى، إشتدّ، سكن، غطّ، إنكسر، إنقطع، تكبّر، غزير، أظهر، إلتصق، أضاء، مسح، لمس، مشط، خرج، شمّ. The reference dictionary used to find out the lexical meaning of each group of verbs is an intermediate dictionary.
