Abstract (Abstrak)

ROBERT ROBBY P. The Effect of Leader Member Exchange (LMX), Job Crafting, and Work Engagement on Nurse Performance at Dr. Tadjuddin Chalid General Hospital (supervised by Irwandy and Indrabayu). Background: The higher the employee performance, the greater the hospital's chances of success. Conversely, the lower the employee performance, the greater the hospital's chances of failure. One form of transformational leadership that supports improved employee performance is Leader Member Exchange leadership. Employee capabilities, such as job crafting, also need to be considered to achieve the expected performance. This includes the ability to modify tasks and make them more meaningful. Furthermore, individual determinants that influence employee performance are their engagement in their work, or work engagement. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of leader member exchange, job crafting, and work engagement on nurse performance at Dr. Tadjuddin Chalid General Hospital. Method: The study employed a cross-sectional design involving 120 nurses and 10 ward heads as respondents. Conclusion: The study found that leader–member exchange, job crafting, and work engagement directly affect nurse performance, with job crafting mediating the link between leader–member exchange and performance. However, no indirect effects were observed through work engagement. Suggestion. It is suggested that hospital management enhance ward head support, foster nurses’ creativity and task–skill alignment, and build a supportive work environment.
