Abstract (Abstrak)

AMANDA REZKY RAMADHANI, Enhancing English Vocabulary Acquisition in Primary School Students Through the Educaplay Platform: A Case Study At 4th Grade of SD Inpres Unggulan Puri Taman Sari (Supervised by Marleny Rajuni and Hidayatullah Yunus) Background. English is not only a school subject but also an essential skill to access the vast knowledge available worldwide and communicate internationally. Thus, new methods of learning that are easy, enjoyable and effective need to continue to be created and implemented to achieve better skills of English vocabulary. Aim. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using the Educaplay platform in improving the mastery of English vocabulary in fourth grade students of SD Inpres Unggulan Puri Taman Sari. Method. The method used in this research is quantitative with an experimental design (one-group pre-test and post-test design). A total of 29 students were the subjects in this study. The instruments used consisted of vocabulary tests (pre-test and post-test) and questionnaires of students' perceptions of the use of Educaplay. Results. The results of data analysis showed that there was a significant increase in students' vocabulary scores after following the learning using Educaplay. The post-test mean score (98.96) was higher than the pre-test mean score (57.41). The paired sample t-test showed the value of t = 31.59 with p < 0.05, which means there is a statistically significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results. In addition, the questionnaire results showed that students had a positive perception of the use of Educaplay, especially in the aspects of engagement, enjoyment, and learning motivation. The correlation coefficients between questionnaire items were all above 0.3 and the significance value was <0.05, indicating high validity and internal consistency. Conclusion. It can be concluded that Educaplay is an effective and fun learning platform in improving English vocabulary acquisition in elementary school students.
