Herawaty, M.Hum., Ph.D and Andi Inayah Soraya, S.S., M.Hum) This study aims to analyze the internal conflict experienced by the character Eddie in Mitch Albom’s novel The Five People You Meet in Heaven through a literary psychological approach. The primary focus is the psychological dynamics of the protagonist, examined using Carl Rogers’ humanistic psychology. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with interpretive analysis of narrative data from the novel. The findings reveal that Eddie undergoes complex internal conflicts, including guilt, a sense of meaninglessness, and deep regret over his past. Through Carl Rogers’ framework, Eddie’s spiritual journey represents a path toward self-acceptance and self-actualization. Across five metaphorical encounters after his death, Eddie experiences a psychological transformation that leads to reconciliation with his life experiences. This study affirms the significance of literary psychology as a valuable method for understanding character development and the emotional complexity embedded in literary narratives.
