Abstract (Abstrak)

This study aims to investigate the implementation of the Teacher Professional Education Program and its impact on the Pedagogical Content Knowledge of English students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, with data collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis to explore how the Teacher Professional Education Program was designed and implemented to enhance the understanding of the Pedagogical Content Knowledge among English students as prospective teachers. The findings revealed that 27 out of 30 English students showed significant improvement in applying Pedagogical Content Knowledge aspects after participating in the program. Teacher Professional Education Program effectively integrated theoretical and practical learning through coursework and Teaching Practicum, enhancing students’ pedagogical competencies, particularly in instructional strategies knowledge, content knowledge, and students knowledge. However, the study also identified several challenges, including adaptation to Merdeka Curriculum, integration of technology in teaching, and addressing the diverse needs of students. These findings contributed to the development of teacher education policies and provided valuable insights into the effectiveness of Teacher Professional Education Program in preparing professional and responsive future teachers in the context of 21st-century education.
