Abstract (Abstrak)

Background. Drought refers to the lack of water that occurs at a certain time and the amount is less than expected. Monitoring drought levels can utilise remote sensing technology, which plays an important role. Aim. The purpose of this research is to determine the distribution and level of drought of paddy fields using the NDDI method based on Sentinel-2A imagery in Takalar Regency, South Polombangkeng District. The method used in this research is using the NDDI (Normalised Difference Drought Index) method which combines greenness and wetness parameters by utilising Sentinel-2A imagery. Results. The results obtained in this study are a map of the distribution and level of drought (NDDI) of rice fields using 2 parameters, namely NDVI and NDWI maps to show the distribution of wetness and greenness levels. NDDI results show the distribution and level of drought of paddy fields in South Polombangkeng sub-district in 2023. The accuracy of NDDI drought map measured from its AUC value is 0.62. Conclusion. The conclusion obtained is that the results of NDDI analysis obtained a map of the distribution of drought levels in October 2023 in the South Polombangkeng sub-district area, where on the map it is clear that most of the South Polombangkeng sub-district area is in the severe drought category (85.78%).
