Abstract (Abstrak)
The objective of this research is to explore the environmental themes shown in Cormac McCarthy's The Road, with a focus on the depiction of the apocalyptic aspect and the relationship between humans and nature. This descriptive qualitative research uses the ecocriticism theory by Greg Garrad to analyze the data and address the related questions. The novel vividly depicts that the center of attention is dying nature. The findings of this study indicate that the land is covered in ash, forests are burned, and the air is almost unbreathable. The father and the boy reveal how the apocalypse forces people to strip life down to its barest essentials. Material things mean little. What matters are relationships, trust, and moral choices.
