Abstract (Abstrak)
ANDI MUHAMMAD FARID. Overview Of Breast Cancer Patient Characteristics At Labuang Baji Regional General Hospital In 2023 (supervised by John Sammy Leid Alfawin Pieter) Background. Breast cancer is one of the major health problems with an increasing incidence rate and can affect individuals across various age groups. Information on age-based patient characteristics is essential to support prevention efforts, early detection, and health service planning. Aim. To describe the profile of breast cancer cases at Labuang Baji Regional General Hospital in 2023. Methods. This study was a descriptive cross-sectional study using secondary data obtained from medical records of breast cancer patients registered at Labuang Baji Regional General Hospital during the period of January–December 2023. Results. Based on age distribution, most breast cancer patients were in the early elderly age group (46–55 years), accounting for 27 patients (27%), followed by late adulthood (36–45 years) with 25 patients (25%). In terms of nutritional status, the majority of patients had normal nutritional status, totaling 56 patients (56%), and no significant association was observed between nutritional status and breast cancer occurrence in this dataset. Regarding family medical history, only 1 patient (1%) reported a relevant family history, indicating no association between family disease history and breast cancer occurrence in this study. Conclusion. Breast cancer cases at Labuang Baji Regional General Hospital in 2023 were predominantly found in the early elderly age group. Nutritional status and family medical history did not show a meaningful association with breast cancer occurrence, suggesting that age was the most prominent characteristic among breast cancer patients in this study.
