Abstract (Abstrak)
The aim of this research is to describe the types of Delusions in Gilman and Poe’s selected short stories, The Yellow Wallpaper, The Giant Wistaria, The Black Cat, and The Tell-Tale Heart with digital stories and to expose the implementation of characters’ delusion in resolving the conflicts. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with a psychoanalysis approach of Sigmund Freud and Gustav Freytag’s theory with multimodal approach. The data constitute both primary and supporting data. The primary data derived from Charlotte Perkins Gilman and Edgar Allan Poe selected short stories The Yellow Wallpaper, The Giant Wistaria, The Black Cat, The Tell-Tale Heart, while the supporting data were taken by means of library research mainly from books, theses, dissertations, electronic articles and journals. The results show that the characters have performed a range of delusions in Gilman and Poe’s selected short stories. In The Yellow Wallpaper, The Giant Wistaria, The Black Cat, The Tell-Tale Heart stories, the characters are mainly concerned with persecutory, erotomanic, grandiose, jealous, somatic, mixed delusion. These characters performed a range of delusion in order to resolve the conflicts.
