Abstract (Abstrak)
SITI AYU SHABILA UMAKAAPA. The Effect of Sea Cucumber Viscera Waste Supplementation on Spermatozoa Quantity and Gonadosomatic Index of Male Black Tiger Shrimp (Penaeus monodon) (supervised by Andi Aliah Hidayani) Introduction. Supplementation of sea cucumber viscera waste in feed is expected to improve the reproductive performance of male black tiger shrimp, particularly through the enhancement of spermatozoa quantity and the gonadosomatic index. Objective. To determine the optimal dosage of sea cucumber visceral waste supplementation to enhance spermatozoa quantity and gonadosomatic index (GSI) in male broodstock of tiger shrimp. Methods. This study employed a completely randomized design (CRD) with three supplement dosages (0, 30, and 60 mL/kg feed), each with three replications. A total of 27 male broodstock were reared for 30 days and fed trash fish supplemented according to the respective treatments. Observed parameters included spermatozoa density using a haemocytometer and the gonadosomatic index (GSI). Data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by the W-Tukey post-hoc test. Results. Analysis of variance showed that supplementation of sea cucumber viscera waste had a significant effect (p<0.05) on spermatozoa quantity and GSI. The highest spermatozoa density was obtained in the 30 mL treatment (73.8×10⁶ cells/mL), followed by the control (41.3×10⁶ cells/mL), while the 60 mL treatment produced the lowest value (33.8×10⁶ cells/mL). The highest GSI value was also recorded in the 30 mL treatment (0.30±0.10%), whereas the lowest was found in the 60 mL treatment (0.17±0.10%). Conclusion. The 30 mL/kg feed dosage of sea cucumber viscera waste supplement is the most effective in increasing spermatozoa quantity and the gonadosomatic index of male black tiger shrimp.
