Abstract (Abstrak)

This study explores the effectiveness of radio broadcasting as a learning strategy to enhance English-speaking skills among students at Hasanuddin University. Specifically, it investigates how participation in EBS FM Unhas, an educational broadcasting station, contributes to students' language development. The research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing interviews and recordings to analyze the progress of student broadcasters over time. The findings reveal that engaging in radio broadcasting fosters improved fluency, vocabulary expansion, and confidence in spoken English. Additionally, the study highlights the challenges faced by students, such as hesitation and lack of self-confidence, and suggests that continuous practice in a structured broadcasting environment significantly enhances language proficiency. These results support the integration of non-academic platforms like radio into language learning strategies, emphasizing their role in complementing formal education. The study contributes valuable insights for educators and students seeking alternative methods to develop English-speaking skills effectively.
