Abstract (Abstrak)

This study aims to examine the impact of children’s songs on English vocabulary acquisition and to evaluate their effectiveness as a learning strategy in elementary education. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the research integrates qualitative analysis through classroom observations to explore the influence of songs on the learning environment, and quantitative analysis via pre-test and post-test assessments to measure vocabulary improvement. The sample consisted of five randomly selected fourth-grade students from a population of twenty-five at MI Miftahul Khair Hartaco. The intervention spanned four sessions, beginning with a pre-test to assess baseline vocabulary knowledge, followed by instructional sessions incorporating selected children’s songs, and concluding with a post-test to evaluate progress. The findings indicate that the use of children’s songs significantly enhances student engagement and fosters a positive, interactive learning atmosphere. Quantitative data further demonstrate a marked improvement in vocabulary acquisition following the intervention. Based on these results, the study concludes that children’s songs represent an effective and enjoyable pedagogical tool for supporting vocabulary development in early language learning.
