Abstract (Abstrak)

ABSTRACT Andi Asra Ainun Andi Pogeng. R011221121. The Relationship Between Smartphone Use and Personal Social Development of Preschool Children at Islamic Kindergarten Sudiang Asri Makassar City, supervised by Dr. Tuti Seniwati, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes. Background: Social development is an important aspect of human life that influences how individuals interact with their surroundings. Early childhood social development, which was previously largely influenced by parenting styles and direct interaction, is now increasingly impacted by the presence of digital media as a new form of interaction. Excessive smartphone use in young children can lead to concentration problems, impulsiveness, and the inability to control behavior. Objective: To examine the relationship between smartphone, use and the social personal development of preschool children at TK Islam Sudiang Asri in Makassar City. Method: This study used a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. A sample of 119 parents was selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Chi-square tests (p<0,05). Results: The majority of respondents had high smartphone use (37.0%) and less optimal personal social development (36.1%). The Chi-square test showed a significant relationship between smartphone use and children's personal social development (p=0,000). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between smartphone use and the personal social development of children. Excessive smartphone use is related to suboptimal personal social development.
