Abstract (Abstrak)

Background: Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health issue with a high incidence rate in Indonesia. The success of TB treatment is not only determined by the availability of medication but also by patients’ experiences throughout the treatment process, which are often influenced by social, psychological, and service-related factors. Therefore, an in-depth understanding of patients’ experiences during the treatment program at the primary healthcare level is needed. Objective: To explore the experiences of pulmonary tuberculosis patients in undergoing the treatment program at Kaluku Bodoa Community Health Center. Method: This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Participants consisted of pulmonary TB patients undergoing treatment at Kaluku Bodoa Community Health Center, selected through snowball sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed thematically to obtain a comprehensive understanding of patients’ experiences. Results: Six main themes emerged: accessibility of health facilities, healthcare services and facilities, interaction with healthcare workers, side effects and treatment adherence, family and social support, and expectations toward the treatment program. Conclusion: The success of TB treatment is influenced by patient comfort, empathic communication, social support, and motivation to recover. Strengthening patient-centered care is essential to enhance treatment adherence, quality of life, and recovery outcomes
