Abstract (Abstrak)
WAHYU HIKMA. L011211093. “Condition and Morphotometric of Seagrass in the Waters of Saugi Island and the Labakkang Coast, Pangkep Regency”. supervised by SUPRIADI. Seagrass ecosystems play a crucial role in coastal areas, providing ecological, physical, and chemical functions. The study was conducted from September to October 2024 on Saugi Island, Pangkep Regency, South Sulawesi Province. This study included identification of seagrass species, cover, and density, sediment sampling, and measurement of physicochemical parameters in the waters, as well as analysis of sediment samples in the laboratory. Gradistat software and multiple linear regression were used for data analysis. The study recorded the lowest average current velocity on Saugi Island 1 (1,389 m/s) at Saugi Station 2 (1,159 m/s), while no current reduction was performed in Labakkang due to low tide conditions. Salinity ranged from 34.00 ppt to 35.00 ppt on Saugi Island, Labakkang Coastal Station. The sediment pH value at all stations averaged 7.64–7.74. Turbidity on Saugi Island averages 10.47 NTU while on the Labakkang Coast it is 10.08 NTU. The temperature value in Saugi averages 31.10- 32.23°C and in Labakkang 35.00°C. The diameter of sediment grains in Saugi 1 is finer with an average of 0.134 mm while Saugi 2 has an average value of 0.864 mm and in Labakkang it is 0.681 mm. Meanwhile, nitrate has a concentration value of 0.53-0.54 mg/L at Saugi Island station, which is higher than Labakkang station which is around 0.38 mg/L. Meanwhile, the value of sediment phosphate content in Saugi ranges from 0.30- 0.35 mg/L, slightly higher than Labakkang which is around 0.26 mg/L. The aquatic environmental parameters in the study generally meet the quality standards to support seagrass life. Two types of seagrass found were Enhalus acoroides and Thalassia hemprichii.
