PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN MEDIA AUDIO-VISUAL TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN MENDENGAR SISWA DALAM PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA INGGRIS DI SMAN 1 BOLO = THE EFFECT OF USING AUDIO–VISUAL MEDIA ON STUDENT LISTENING SKILLS IN ENGLISH LESSONS AT SMAN 1 BOLO

This research was conducted based on students' listening problems, such as difficulty developing ideas, difficulty choosing appropriate grammar, and poor vocabulary comprehension. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using audiovisual media on students' listening skills in English learning. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test. The research method used was a qualitative one. The sample used in this study was the tenth-grade students of SMAN 1 BOLO. The researcher used purposive sampling as the sampling technique in this study and selected 34 students of class X E1. The research instruments were a pre-test and a post-test. In data collection, the researcher used a listening test to determine students' listening skills. In data analysis, the researcher used a paired-sample t-test calculated using SPSS version 24.0. This was used to determine the level of significance of the results. The data from the pre-test showed a slight difference from the average score of the post-test, where the average score of the pre-test was 60.29, while the post-test was 77.79. In addition, the results of the data analysis showed a significance value (Sig.) <0.05. Based on the results above, it is known that the significance value (Sig.) <0.05 (2-tailed) is 0.000, because Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.000 <0.05 (significance level 0.05). Based on the statement above, it shows that there is a significant influence on students' development before and after being treated using audio-visual media in improving listening skills in learning English.
