Abstract (Abstrak)
DARMAWANGSA. Stress Management Mediates Workload on Burnout (Study in the Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine Study Program) (supervised by Abdul Rahman Kadir). Background. Pulmonologists often face a high clinical and administrative workload, potentially increasing the risk of burnout. Previous studies have confirmed that work stress acts as a mediator between workload and burnout in various health professions. Purpose. This study aims to examine (1) the direct effect of workload on burnout, (2) the effect of workload on stress management, (3) the effect of stress management on burnout, and (4) the mediating role of stress management in the relationship between workload and burnout in pulmonologists. Method. Quantitative research design. The sample consisted of 35 resident doctors. The data analysis technique uses path analysis. Results. Direct pathway testing confirmed workload did not significantly affect burnout, but significantly lowered stress management. Stress management actually has a significant positive effect on burnout. The mediation analysis found that stress management fully mediated the relationship between workload and burnout. Conclusion. High workloads weaken the effectiveness of stress management, which increases burnout.
