Abstract (Abstrak)
Background: The maturity of the reproductive organs is marked by the onset of menstruation. Menstrual Hygiene Management is very important because if ignored it can trigger the emergence of reproductive health disorders that can have an impact on the physical and psychological of adolescent girls. Objective: To determine the description of menstrual hygiene management behavior among adolescent girls at UPT SPF SMP Negeri 6 Makassar. Methods: This study is a quantitative descriptive study with a non-experimental survey design, the sample size is 264 people, recruited by Stratified Random Sampling technique. The research was conducted in November 2024 using the Menstrual Hygiene Management questionnaire and the data was analyzed with SPSS software. Results: There was a picture of “good” Menstrual Hygiene Management behavior (54.5%) among adolescent girls as evidenced by the majority of adolescent girls showing good behavior in terms of hand washing before and after washing pads (99.6%), selection of menstrual products (97.7%), management of used pads before disposal (97.3%) and frequency of changing underwear 2x a day (89.9%). Conclusion: The menstrual hygiene management behavior of adolescent girls at UPT SPF SMP Negeri 6 Makassar was mostly in the good category, but there were still a small number of adolescent girls who showed poor menstrual hygiene management behavior. The findings in this research can be a reference regarding the need to increase the application of menstrual hygiene management as an effort to improve reproductive health in adolescent girls.
