Abstract (Abstrak)

Introduction: The risk of falls among inpatients is a significant indicator of patient safety in hospitals. Despite the implementation of preventive in hospital setting, fall incidents remain increased. Aim: This study aims to to evaluate the implementation of fall risk prevention based on patients' and nurses' perceptions in hospitals setting, in Makassar City, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Design : This research conducted using quantitative with a cross sectional approach. Methods : A total of 200 nurses and 200 patients completed the questionnaire. The study ultilized the instrument of the fall prevention activities . Results: Significant relationship were found between prior training about implementing fall prevention effort (p<0.05). Furthermore, discrepancies were identified in perceptions between nurses and patients regarding the use of marker for fall risk, patient bed rails, education on the use of call bells, safe transfer techniques, non-slip footwear, and the placement of rubber mat in patient’s bathroom, each with a significance value of (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Training on fall prevention should be routinely integrated into continuing education programs for nurses. Such training can enhance the implementation of fall prevention effort, particularly for nurses with limited work experience
