Abstract (Abstrak)

Background: The rapid development of the times has led to a significant increase in the population. Along with the increase in population, the demand for energy is also rising. Therefore, there is a need for energy storage solutions that can balance the development of energy consumption. Methods: This study involves the production of activated carbon from sugarcane leaves through a nitrogen gas carbonization process at 600°C for 1 hour with variations of KOH activation at 0.1 M, 0.2 M, and 0.3 M. The characteristics analyzed include density analysis, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), and Cyclic Voltammetry (CV). Results: The density analysis results show that with each increase in activation, the density value produced decreases. In the FTIR functional group spectrum, the presence of C bonds is indicated. Meanwhile, the XRD analysis shows the presence of an amorphous structure both before and after pyrolysis. The electrochemical properties of sugarcane leaf carbon indicate that the diffusion process improves with increasing activator height. Conclusion: The specific capacitance value of sugarcane leaf supercapacitor electrodes showed the highest specific capacitance at 0.2 M activator, which is 135 F/g.
