Abstract (Abstrak)

Background: Hypertension is blood pressure that exceeds normal limits and has the potential to increase the risk of heart attack and heart failure . Bed Exercise is part of physical activity training that is expected to be able to lower blood pressure in elderly hypertensive patients . Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of bed exercise on reducing blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension. Method: This study used a quasi-experimental design. study with simple Random sampling technique . The sample consisted of 76 elderly people divided into an intervention group of 38 people and a control group of 38 people. using standard operating procedures Bed Exercise which was carried out for 8 weeks, 3 times a week with a duration of 10 minutes each session. Blood pressure measurement using digital tension recorded through an observation sheet with the statistical tests used were the Wilcoxon test and the Mann Whitney test Results: The results showed that in the intervention group there was a significant decrease in systolic blood pressure (p < 0.000) and diastolic blood pressure (p < 0.002) after the intervention. In contrast, in the control group, changes in systolic blood pressure (p = 0.06) and diastolic blood pressure (p = 0.259) were not significant . Comparative analysis between groups after the intervention showed significant differences in systolic and diastolic blood pressure (p < 0.000). These results indicate that Bed Exercise is an effective non-pharmacological intervention to lower blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension. Conclusion: Bed Exercise is effective in lowering blood pressure in elderly hypertensive patients. This intervention can be an important treatment plan to lower blood pressure in elderly hypertensive patients.
