Abstract (Abstrak)

Kawasan perkotaan sering kali dianggap kurang mendukung kehidupan satwa liar, padahal banyak spesies yang mampu beradaptasi di lingkungan kota. Keanekaragaman satwa liar di kawasan perkotaan memiliki peran penting dalam menjaga keseimbangan ekosistem. Kota Makassar sebagai kota besar mengalami tekanan lingkungan akibat urbanisasi yang dapat mengancam keberadaan satwa liar. Penelitian ini betujuan untuk mengidentifikasi keanekaragaman jenis satwa liar terutama amfibi, burung, mamalia, dan reptil di Kota Makassar menggunakan metode desktop research dan citizen science. Pengumpulan data dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan data sekunder yang diperoleh dengan mengumpulkan data dari literatur ilmiah yaitu jurnal/publikasi ilmiah, laporan, skripsi/disertasi, serta aplikasi dari platform citizen science yaitu iNaturalist dan eBird. Hasil menunjukkan 434 temuan satwa liar dengan 163 spesies, didominasi oleh taksa burung. Beberapa jenis satwa yang tercatat merupakan spesies endemik dan terdapat beberapa spesies memiliki status konservasi penting EN/Endangered, VU/Vulnarable, NT/Near Threatened menurut IUCN. Satwa liar umumnya ditemukan di ruang terbuka hijau, termasuk area kampus, dan kawasan pesisir. Kombinasi metode desktop research dan citizen science ini efektif untuk mendokumentasikan keanekaragaman satwa liar di wilayah urban dan penting bagi upaya konservasi perkotaan. Urban areas are often seen as unsuitable for wildlife, even though many species can adapt and live in city environments. Wildlife diversity in cities plays an important role in maintaining ecosystem balance. Makassar, as a large and growing city, is experiencing environmental pressure from urbanization, which can threaten local wildlife. This study aims to identify the diversity of wildlife species especially amphibians, birds, mammals, and reptiles in Makassar city using desktop research and citizen science. Data were collected from secondary sources, including scientific journals, reports, theses/dissertations, and citizen science platforms such as iNaturalist and eBird. The study recorded 434 wildlife observations with 163 unique species, mostly birds. Several species were endemic, and some were lidtes with important conservation status according to the IUCN, such as EN/Endangered, VU/Vulnarable, or NT/Near Threatened. Most wildlife was found in green spaces, including university areas and coastal zones. Conclusion: The combination of desktop research and citizen science is an effective approach to documenting wildlife diversity in urban areas conservation efforts.
