Abstract (Abstrak)
James M. Barrie’s Peter Pan is a classic work of children's fantasy literature. This research aims to analyze the fantasy world that becomes the primary setting in the novel Peter Pan and to examine the fantasy characters based on archetypal figure analysis. This study employs a structuralism approach to explore the structure and elements within the story. The results show that the fantasy world in Peter Pan functions as the central setting and fits into several fantasy subgenres, including Portal-Quest Fantasy, Immersive Fantasy, Intrusion Fantasy, and Liminal Fantasy. Furthermore, the characters in the novel represent classic archetypal roles: Peter Pan as the Hero, Captain Hook as the Shadow, and Wendy as the Explorer. These elements collectively support the structural coherence of the fantasy world and highlight the underlying themes of identity, growth, and the tension between childhood and adulthood.
