Abstract (Abstrak)
This research explores Herbert Read's philosophy of aesthetic education and its relevance in contemporary educational practices. The study provides an in-depth analysis of Read's life background and how it shaped his views on education, particularly in art and aesthetics. The research focuses on the development of his educational philosophy, especially the fundamental concepts underlying his approach to art education, including the importance of creativity and emotional expression in learning. The study also examines the influence of Read's thoughts on art education, emphasizing the integration of artistic experiences into educational methodologies. His ideas advocate a holistic approach that develops not only cognitive aspects but also students' emotional growth. Furthermore, the research investigates the application of Read's concepts across various educational levels, from early childhood to higher education, finding that his aesthetic education approach significantly contributes to developing educational methodologies that advance students' overall personality development. The findings indicate that Read's philosophy provides not only a theoretical framework for art education but also valuable insights into art's role in fostering students' cognitive, emotional, and social development.
