Abstract (Abstrak)

TIRSA MEITRIANA. Effect of various doses of prebiotic inulin extracted from sweet potatoes in feed on the relative growth rate and hepatosomatic index of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus, Linnaeus 1758) (supervised by Siti Aslamyah). Background. Tilapia cultivation production activities are highly dependent on the quality of the feed provided. However, the increasing price of feed causes production costs to increase. For this reason, additional feed is needed that can improve the quality and efficiency of the feed provided, one of which is by using prebiotics in the form of inulin that can be extracted from sweet potatoes. Objective. To determine the best dose of inulin extracted from sweet potatoes in feed on the relative growth rate and hepatosomatic index of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus, Linnaeus 1758). Method. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments, each treatment consisting of 3 replications. The treatments tested were differences in the dosage of inulin extracted from sweet potatoes in the feed, namely treatment A (0 mL/kg feed), B (1,5 mL/kg feed), C (2,5 mL/kg feed), D (3,5 mL/kg feed) and E (4,5 mL/kg feed). The tilapia used were 225 fish, each of which was spread 15 fish/treatment and maintained for 50 days with feeding 3 times a day with a dose of 7%. Results. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the treatment of the dosage of inulin extracted from sweet potatoes in the feed had a significant effect (p>0.05) on the relative growth rate and hepatosomatic index of tilapia. The highest daily relative growth rate was found in treatment D 5,45 ± 0,11 and C 5,38 ± 0,18 . The highest hepatosomatic index value was also found in treatment D 1,85 ± 0,58 and C 1,77± 0,26. Conclusion. Based on the relative growth rate data and hepatosomatic index observed in the study, it can be concluded that the best prebiotic inulin extracted from sweet potatoes in feed is at a dose of 2,5 mL.
