Abstract (Abstrak)

SRIKANDI PERTIWI, 2025, The Use of Mobile Game in Improving Students’ Vocabulary: A Study at SMPN 1 Pammana (supervised by Abidin Pammu and Marleiny Radjuni). This study aims to figure out whether there is a significant improvement in students’ vocabulary when using the mobile game “Fill Missing Letters” in learning activities and how students perceive the implementation of mobile game-based learning (MGBL). The writer applied a quantitative method. The data were collected through pre-test, post-test, and questionnaire. This study used the saturated sampling or census techniques to determine the participants. Participants for this study were drawn from classes VII-1 and VII-2, comprising 38 students who participated in the pre-test, post-test, and questionnaire sections. The writer uses statistical analysis to find out the results of the study. The findings of the study reveal that there is a significant improvement in students’ vocabulary mastery after using the mobile game “Fill Missing Letter” in learning activities. The 7th-grade students at SMPN 1 Pammana exhibit higher scores on the post-test than the pre-test, the mean score for the post-test reached 71.31, whereas the pre-test attained a score of 14.86. The t-test value was higher than t-table (15.798 > 2.026). It indicates that there is a significant improvement between the results of the students’ pre-test and post-test. The questionnaire result showed that the implementation of this technique got positive responses from students in the teaching-learning process of vocabulary.
