PERFORMA BAHASA KIASAN DALAM PIDATO PRABOWO SUBIANTO DAN ANIES BASWEDAN: KAJIAN SEMANTIK = FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE PERFORM OF PRABOWO SUBIANTO AND ANIES BASWEDAN’S SPEECHES: A SEMANTIC STUDY

Figurative Language Perform of Prabowo Subianto and Anies Baswedan’s Speeches: A Semantic Study (Supervised by Sukmawaty and Husain Hasyim) This research is a figurative language study. The main objective is to classify by type and interpret the figurative language used in Prabowo Subianto's and Anies Baswedan's speeches. This research aims to present the implementation of the role of language in politics. The researcher used qualitative methods to achieve the result, and the study is presented in descriptive form. There is a core process from the classification stage to determine the most frequently used type until the interpretation stage of the meaning contained in the figurative language. After going through the analysis stage, the researcher found one type most dominantly used by both, namely metaphor. There was also data from Prabowo Subianto's speech using figurative language 9 times with four types of figurative language: five metaphors, two synecdoche, one understatement, and one hyperbole. On the other hand, Anies used figurative language with a lower frequency of 7 times. The figurative types in Anies' speech are four metaphors, two similes, and one personification. Metaphor is the superior type and is often used in both speeches. In Prabowo's speech, metaphor was also used to affirm the message he wanted to convey. At the same time, Anies used metaphor to build more understanding in the audience. Using metaphor in both speeches created a more significant effect and beauty value than straightforward delivery.
