Abstract (Abstrak)

This study investigated the EFL learners' speaking anxiety levels and its impacts on EFL learners' speaking performance and demonstrated the perceptions of EFL learners about the relation between speaking anxiety and their speaking performance at Universitas Muslim Indonesia. This study was conducted by using mix method of quantitative and qualitative approaches. The data of the study were elicited through questionnaire, speaking test, and interview. The result of this study revealed that learners’ speaking anxiety appeared during the speaking performance in the class as seen from its indicators. The most experienced level of learners’ speaking anxiety on speaking performance activity in the class was moderately high anxiety. The most experienced indicator of learners’ speaking anxiety was test anxiety, followed by communication apprehension and fear of negative evaluation.
