Abstract (Abstrak)
ABSTRACT ST. HARDIANTI MH. "The effect of giving probiotics on growth, condition factors and energy levels of freshwater lobster (Cherax quadricarinatus) fry" (supervised by Muh. Yusri Karim). Background. Freshwater lobsters are a type of crustacean that has almost the same size and body shape as seawater lobsters and a genus of freshwater shrimp (Crustacea). One of the successes of cultivating freshwater lobsters in terms of weight and length growth is providing artificial food and natural food in the form of silk worms as nutrition for the fry and adding probiotics to the research tank to help digestion so that the growth of the fry increases. Method. This research was conducted from November 2024 to January 2025 at the Freshwater Lobster Breeding Unit belonging to BUMDES Bumi Pacellekang Sejahtera, Pacellekang Village, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi Province. The test animals used in this research were 5-day-old freshwater lobster fry which were stocked in 600 individuals with a length of 9.35 mm and a weight of 0.017 grams. The research was designed using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 probiotic dose treatments with 3 replications each, namely 0; 5; 10; and 15; mL/L. Results. The results of the study showed that the administration of probiotics had a very significant effect (p<0.01) on the growth, condition factors and energy levels of freshwater lobster fry. The best growth rates, condition factors, and energy levels were produced at doses of 5 mL/L and 10 mL/L. Conclusion. Growth, condition factors, and energy levels of C. quadricarinatus freshwater lobster fry were best at doses of 5 mL/L and 10 mL/L.
