Abstract (Abstrak)
This study aims to describe the magical realism of the novel Night at the Circus by Angela Carter. The objectives of this study are: (1) to provide the description of magical realism in the Nights at the Circus by Angela Carter, and (2) to reveal of the characters bringing magical realism in the Nights at the Circus by Angela Carter.
This study uses the theory of magical realism by Wendy B. Faris to analyze the four characteristics of magical realism and expressive approach using to know the relationship between expression and magical realism. Then, the research method used by the researcher is qualitative and descriptive analysis to identify the magical realism in the novel.
The results of this study indicates that the analysis of the novel Night at the Circus by Angela Carter found that the four characteristics of magical realism are related to each other in realizing the aesthetic of magical realism in the novels studied.
