Abstract (Abstrak)
Waterfalls are a very popular natural tourist attraction, and water quality plays an important role in the health of ecosystems. This study evaluates the water quality of five waterfalls in Gowa and Maros, South Sulawesi, focusing on the parameters of temperature, BOD, COD, pH, color, and DO. Samples were collected in the morning using a 1-liter polyethylene plastic bottle rinsed with waterfall water and stored in a cooler at 4°C to maintain quality during transport to the laboratory. Results showed comfortable water temperatures for tourists (25.4°C - 27°C), the highest BOD at Manrusu, indicating organic pollution, the highest COD at Manrusu, indicating chemical pollution, and a slightly alkaline pH at Manrusu. Water color at all locations was in the range of 5 to 10 TCU, meeting water quality standards, while high DO levels (8.44 mg/L - 9.71 mg/L) reflected excellent water quality. This study highlights the importance of water quality management to support tourism sustainability and maintain environmental health.
