PENGGUNAAN ROOT CONDITIONING PADA KASUS RESESI GINGIVA

Objective: To determine the effect of using root conditioning in cases of gingival recession. Material and Methods: ScienceDirect, PubMed, SciELO, Google Scholar were searched for articles published between 2011-2021 in English reporting randomized clinical trials, complete and with result. This literature review were screened and selected by a single examiner based on the following criteria: full text of the article in English with abstract reporting for effect of using root conditioning. Result: From article gained by the author, the author found that the use of various types of root conditioning agents can improve the gingival reattachment process. Conclusion: Root conditioning is a procedure to detoxify the root surface by removing the smear layer and demineralization by exposing the collagen matrix which supports migration, proliferation, adhesion and matrix synthesis of cells involved in periodontal healing so as to increase gingival reattachment to the root surface. The effect of using a root conditioning agent in the case of SRP has a proven effect of increasing the percentage of root coverage by promoting preferential attachment of fibroblast cells to the root surface.
