Abstract (Abstrak)

This study aims to identify the tourist attractions at turtle nesting sites and assess the suitability of these locations as turtle tourism destinations. Turtle tourism has become a growing segment of eco-tourism, attracting increasing interest from tourists due to heightened awareness of marine conservation and the sustainability of marine ecosystems. This research was conducted using both qualitative and quantitative approaches, including direct observation, interviews with tourism managers, and analysis of environmental factors that support the success of turtle tourism destinations. The findings reveal that the main tourist attractions at turtle nesting sites include direct interaction with turtles, conservation education, and the natural beauty of coastal areas that support nature-based tourism activities. In addition, factors such as the availability of infrastructure, accessibility, and community involvement influence the level of tourist visits. Regarding the suitability of locations, the analysis shows that not all sites have the same potential to become viable turtle tourism destinations. Key factors determining suitability include the condition of the coastal ecosystem, the security of turtle habitats, and the preparedness of management to implement sustainable conservation activities. Overall, this study recommends the development of sustainable turtle tourism destinations, focusing on turtle habitat conservation, community empowerment, and increasing tourist awareness of environmental preservation. With a holistic approach, turtle tourism can serve as an attractive alternative that benefits both conservation efforts and local economies.
