Abstract (Abstrak)
Administratively the study area is included in the Pebata Region of Baebunta District, North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi Province and astronomically it is located at coordinates 120°17'00” E – 120° 21'00” E and 02° 29'00” S – 02° 32 '00”LS. The research entitled "Geology of the Pebata Area, Baebunta District, North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi Province" was intended to make a map with a scale of 1: 25,000 which includes geomorphological conditions, stratigraphy, geological structure, geological history and recource geology in the research area. The method used in this study is the field geology method and data processing using both software and laboratory equipment.
From the results of the analysis carried out, it was concluded that the geomorphological unit in the study area consisted of hill geomorphological units, plains geomorphological units and alluvial geomorphological units. Rivers that develop in the study area are periodic and permanent rivers. The genetic type of the river in the study area is the insequent genetic type. Dendritic and parallel river flow patterns. Based on the geomorphological aspects, it can be concluded that the river and regional stages are young before adulthood. The stratigraphy of the research area based on unofficial lithostratigraphy from old to young consists of; granite units, granodiorite units, and alluvial units. The developing geological structure is the Pebata dextral shear fault. Minerals in the study area are classified as sirtu materials (sand and stone).
In the study area, based on megascopic and petrographic analysis, granite rocks have a holocrystalline crystalline texture, faneritic granularity, fabric: euhedral-subhedral shape, equigranular relations, massive structure. Based on the weight ratio plotting (%) of K2O and SiO2 in the magma affinity classification, the magma series is Calc–Alkaline series. Based on the composition of SiO2 and Na2O + K2O, the rock types include Granite, granite rocks in the study area are peralominous and S-Type. Granite, based on the geochemistry and petrography of granite rocks in the study area, was formed in the continental collision orogenic process.
