Abstract (Abstrak)

Malnutrition is the most frequent complication in the critically ill patients which can be characterized by an increase the inflammatory markers, namely CRP and Procalcitonin, which adversely affect the patients outcome. The nutritional therapy plays an important role in the management of critically ill patients. The research aims at investigating the relationship between the nutritional medical therapy and CRP and Procalcitonin in the critically ill patients. The research used the retrospective cohort design on the critical patients in Wahidin Sudirohusodo Teaching Hospital in 2020-2021. Samples were as many as 250 subjects who met the inclusive criteria by screening for the malnutrition using the the m-Nutric score, laboratory examination of CRP and Procalcitonin and getting the nutritional medical therapy. The research result indicate that the variable energy is <600 and mNutric has the low risk of CRP I and II: 127.70±79.01 vs 161.15±131.45 (p=0.655). The procalcitonin I and II is 27.79±50.51 vs 11.97±17.21 (p=0.054). The variable energy is ≥ 600 kcal mNutric score with the low risk for CRP I and II: 154.91±108.66 vs 95.74±74 (p=0.009). While, the procalcitonin I and II is 15.54±39.49 vs 37.64±62.62 (p=0.841). The variable energy ˂ 600 kcal and mNutric score have the high risk of CRP I and II with 148.50±47.98 vs no value (p = no). The procalcitonin I and II is 73.01±73.66 vs 20.42±35.19 (p=0.138). The variable energy is ≥ 600 kcal and mNutric score has the high risk of CRP I and II with 120.95±41.64 vs 76.13±21.16 (p=0.109) and the procalcitonin I and II is 58.20±71.87 vs 35.55±50.90 (p=0.011). The variable of energy is ≥ 600 kcal and mNutric score has the low risk and is found statistically significant decrease in CRP levels and mNutric score has the high risk and is found a statistically significant decrease in the procalcitonin levels. It can be concluded that there relationship between the nutritional medical therapy on CRP and Procalcitonin in the critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit with the statistically significant results.
