Abstract (Abstrak)

The incidence of breast cancer continues to increase each year, contributing significantly to mortality rates. One of the measures that can be taken to prevent breast cancer is breast self-examination (BSE). However, the practice of BSE is still very low among women of reproductive age, necessitating interventions to improve BSE behavior. This study aims to determine the effect of BSE education based on the Integrated Behavior Model (IBM) on the BSE behavior of women of reproductive age. This study used a quasi-experimental pre- and post-test with a control group design involving 80 women of reproductive age who were randomly allocated. The intervention group received IBM-based BSE education, while the control group only received BSE education without the IBM basis. The data were analyzed using paired t-tests and Mann-Whitney tests. Statistical test results in the intervention group showed a significant change in BSE behavior with a p-value of 0.000, while the control group did not show a significant change with a p-value of 0.250. For both groups, the pre-test statistical results did not show a significant difference with a p-value of 0.204, whereas the post-test showed a significant difference with a p-value of 0.000. The conclusion is that IBM-based BSE education has a significant effect on early breast cancer detection behavior in women of reproductive age.
