Background. The problem of smoking is a global problem that is still a concern to date, almost 8 million deaths per year are caused by smoking cigarettes, of which 7 million are active smokers and 1.2 million are passive smokers and teenagers are the main target of tobacco products. Aim. This research aims to explore the role played by educators and parents in preventing the smoking behavior of adolescent boys at SMPN 19 Palu, Palu City, Central Sulawesi. Method. A case study research methodology is applied in this qualitative study. Fifteen people participated in the study as informants: five were teaching staff members and four were older students; four were key informants, male students who smoke; and two were supporting informants, students who personally witnessed the role that parents and teachers play in supporting male students who smoke. In-depth interviews, observation, and documenting utilizing interview standards were the methods used for source and method triangulation in the collection of data. Results: This research reveals that the role played by teaching staff in preventing students' smoking behavior is by making written rules in the form of rules prohibiting smoking and bringing cigarettes into the school environment, routinely entering every moming in the classroom to control and carry out raids or bag checks, students who bring cigarettes into the school environment, if cases of student smoking continue to recur then the teaching staff will write to the student's parents. Conclusion: Parents and instructors play a significant role in helping students avoid smoking, as demonstrated by the fact that after one month, students hardly ever encountered somebody smoking in school.
