Abstract (Abstrak)

Andi Suci Puspa Batara. E06118105 . “The Impact of U.S. Military Policy Under Donald Trump’s Administration on The South China Sea”. 1st Lecturer Supervisor: Drs. H. Darwis, MA, Ph.D. 2nd Lecturer Supervisor: Bama Andika Putra, S.IP, MA In Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Hassanuddin University
The purpose of this study is to determine the forms of United States policies under the leadership of Donald Trump in the South China Sea area and the impact of these policies on the South China Sea area. In this study, the authors used a descriptive method, with data collection techniques in the form of literature reviews sourced from journals, books, official internet sites, and reports related to this research.
The results of this study indicate that there are two central US military policies toward the South China Sea under the leadership of Donald Trump, namely Freedom of Navigation which is related to the United States' efforts to demand freedom of navigation in the South China Sea area and the Indo-Pacific Free and Open Policy as efforts to make the Indo-Pacific a stable region that is free and open and coexists in peace.
As for the impact of the United States military policy in the South China Sea under Donald Trump's administration, the South China Sea area has decreased, in this case, especially between China and countries that also claim the South China Sea as their own. However, this policy has the opposite effect on relations between the United States and China, namely increasing tensions between the two countries.
